Ms. Kate Jacobson
My name is Kate Jacobson and I grew up in Cedar Rapids. Having lived in other parts of the country, I can confidently say there is no place like home and home is Iowa. I earned a BA in English at Clarke College and my teaching licensure through Mount Mercy. I have an MS in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of St. Francis and an MA in Folklore and Ethnography from University College Cork. I have been teaching junior high and high school for 28 years and I feel very excited and privileged to be starting at St. Athanasius this year. I come from long line of teachers, so you might say it’s in our DNA. I cannot imagine any other job that is as exciting and fulfilling. My favorite thing about teaching is spending my days with young people. In my free time I like to travel, garden, and hang out with friends and family. I’ve also been known to play Uno Attack for five hours at a time.
